Frequently asked questions
getting started
-
The first step is to reach out through my contact form, email, or phone. We will begin with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation, where you can share a bit about what brings you to therapy, ask questions about my approach, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
If we decide to move forward, we will schedule an initial 50-minute session.
Finding the right therapeutic relationship is an important part of the process. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule an initial appointment. I generally recommend beginning with four weekly sessions, which allows enough time to experience the process before deciding together whether it feels like the right fit for ongoing work.
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person and depends on your goals, the concerns you are bringing, and the depth of work you would like to do together.
Many of the clients I work with are interested not only in symptom relief, but in creating deeper and more lasting change. Meaningful therapeutic work takes time, and we will regularly check in about how the process is unfolding and whether it continues to meet your needs.
You are always in control of how long you choose to engage in therapy.
fees & insurance
-
Individual therapy sessions are $225 for a 50-minute session.
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept payment via Zelle, Venmo, or check.
A limited number of reduced-fee appointments may be available. If cost is a concern, please feel free to inquire about current availability.
If you have any questions about fees or getting started, I welcome you to reach out.

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. For clients with PPO plans, out-of-network benefits may provide partial reimbursement for therapy services.
I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, and I encourage you to contact your insurer directly to understand your specific benefits.
Therapy may also be paid for using pre-tax funds through a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).
-
If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, it may be helpful to ask your insurance provider:
Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?
Do I need preauthorization for outpatient psychotherapy?
What is my deductible, and has it been met?
What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed after my deductible is met?
Is there a limit to the number of therapy sessions covered each year?
scheduling & logistics
-
I offer both in-person and virtual therapy sessions. My office is located in Oakland, at Market Hall across from the Rockridge BART station. I also provide telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in California.
-
I begin with weekly sessions for all clients. The consistency of meeting regularly creates a foundation for the work, allowing us to stay connected to the process and build depth over time.
As therapy progresses, we can discuss together what frequency feels most supportive for your needs and goals.
-
I ask that you provide at least 48 business hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
Consistency is an important part of the therapeutic process, so rescheduling is always preferred when possible.
Appointments canceled with less than 48 business hours' notice, as well as missed appointments, are charged the full session fee, except in the case of a true emergency.
